Geosplit expands its presence on the Asian market and established a research laboratory in China

Geosplit carries on an active implementation of marker diagnostics technology for production logging of oil and gas wells in China. After the first projects performed at the Chanqing field earlier this year, the interest in well marker diagnostics technology has significantly grown.

Geosplit has established partnership with a number of leading Chinese oilfield services companies gaining access to all the country's major oil and gas fields operated by three national oil and gas corporations.

The high demand for marker technology in China, strategic plans for further development of the company’s business in the Asia-Pacific region, China’s government-sponsored natural gas production stimulation programs, and a number of other factors, all together determined the company's next step — setting up a research laboratory locally in China.

A new laboratory was opened in the city district of Suzhou, mentioned in the ancient Chinese proverb "Heaven Above, Suzhou and Hangzhou on Earth." The city is located in the most important transport and commercial center of the Jiangnan region – the richest part of the country with a pleasant climate and picturesque landscapes. In addition, Suzhou is located in close proximity to Shanghai – one of the largest logistics hubs in East Asia.

At present, the Geosplit laboratory performs analyses of samples delivered from Chinese oil and gas wells and is the most important strategic object of Geosplit in China. The local laboratory will undoubtedly serve the tasks of work optimization, establishing a closer contact with Chinese customers and strengthening the company’s presence in the region.

The GEOSPLIT markers used in Chinese fields enable obtaining a constant flow of data on well intervals productivity  for several years without well shut-in or changing the operation mode. The technology contributes to field digitalization, the combination of GEOSPLIT data with geological information increases production efficiency not only at the level of single wells, but also at the field level as the whole, thereby solving the problem of residual reserves localization.

During the year of cooperation, Chinese partners highly appreciated the advantages of GEOSPLIT well production logging technology and the prospects of its application on the field scale as one of the steps towards reservoir digitalization.

GEOSPLIT technology continues drawing attention from the customers worldwide, pilot projects are scheduled in the Middle East in the near future.
