One of the key risks for exploited wells is the breakthrough of water. The nature of the watercut of the reservoirs is very different and depends on the properties of the productive strata, the initial conditions for the occurrence of oil and the system of field development. The watercut has a direct effect on the oil recovery factor, which in our country is 27-28% against, for example, 45% in the US.
In 2014, we developed a solution for fast identification of water breakthrough zone in horizontal wells. The WaterAlarm project is the winner of the contest "Innovations in the oil and gas sector" of the Skolkovo Foundation. The WaterAlarm technology is based on the use of quantum markers-reporters®, which are introduced either into the polymer coating of proppant or into the polymer inserts in well completion equipment
An important advantage of the technology is that the work on well "marking" does not require significant capital expenditures from the customer and is carried out mainly due to GEOSPLIT investments. Later, during the well production, analysis of the well fluid allows the Customer to determine zone of water breakthrough and conduct WSO.
